Special features

The cottage is annexed to a large, Georgian farmhouse which was built in approximately 1760. Consequently, there are several period features, including Georgian sash windows, the inglenook fireplace in the lounge, an enclosed cottage staircase and the substantial chimney-breast in one of the bedrooms.

The furnishings, however, are modern, comfortable and tasteful with plenty of individuality to make you feel at home, as you can see from the interior photos here.

The land here has been farmed since Roman times. Holcombe Villa, circa 50 AD, was excavated in the 1960s and is clearly marked on the parish map. (A copy of this is on the kitchen wall). Although the site has since been covered over, the contours of the Roman pavement are still visible in winter.

What is included

Bedlinen and towels (but please bring your own beach towels); welcome tray with tea and coffee; logs for the woodburning stove; no extra charge for heating or electricity.
